4 phones launching in August 2026: Pixel 11, Redmi Note 17, more

Four smartphones have confirmed August 2026 launches in India: Google's Pixel 11 series on August 13, Poco's M8 Power on August 4, Xiaomi's Redmi Note 17, and Vivo's S2. Each targets a different slice of the market, from Google's premium AI play to budget 8,000mAh battery phones from Xiaomi and Poco.

Pixel 11: August 12 global, August 13 India

Google confirmed the Pixel 11 series will debut globally on August 12, with the India launch following one day later. The company also announced a price hike over the Pixel 10, citing rising memory costs. Leaks have surfaced what appear to be complete specifications, though Google has not officially detailed the hardware.

The Pixel line remains Google's showcase for on-device AI features. CTOs and engineering leads evaluating corporate device standards should note the confirmed price increase before budget cycles lock in.

Poco M8 Power: August 4, India

Poco confirmed August 4 as the India launch date for the M8 Power. The device appears to be a rebrand of the Redmi Note 17, meaning near-identical internals: Snapdragon 4 Gen 4, 7-inch 120Hz OLED, 50MP main camera, and an 8,000mAh battery. Pricing will likely be the differentiator between the two.

Rebrands are standard practice in Xiaomi's sub-brand strategy. For fleet buyers or startups provisioning field devices, the M8 Power and Redmi Note 17 are functionally interchangeable. The cheaper sticker wins.

Redmi Note 17: specs and what Xiaomi claims

Xiaomi is bringing the Redmi Note 17 to India after its China debut. If the Indian variant mirrors the Chinese model, expect a 7-inch Full HD+ OLED at 120Hz, 1,800 nits peak brightness, and an in-display fingerprint scanner. IP65 rating covers dust and splashes but not submersion.

Under the hood: Snapdragon 4 Gen 4 with Adreno 613, up to 8GB LPDDR4X RAM, and up to 256GB UFS 2.2 storage with microSD expansion. The phone runs HyperOS 3 on Android 16. Battery capacity is a confirmed 8,000mAh with 45W wired charging and 22.5W reverse wired charging.

Camera setup is modest: 50MP f/1.8 primary rear shooter, 8MP front. Both record 1080p at 30fps. Connectivity includes 5G, dual 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.1, NFC, and USB-C.

Vivo S2: curved OLED and iPhone Air-style camera

Vivo revives its S-series in India with the S2. The rear camera module adopts a horizontal pill shape, drawing comparisons to Apple's rumored iPhone Air design. Display is a 6.83-inch curved OLED at 120Hz, powered by MediaTek's Dimensity 7360.

Durability ratings are higher than the Redmi lineup: IP68 and IP69 cover both submersion and high-pressure water jets. Cameras include a 50MP primary without OIS, a 2MP depth sensor, and a 32MP selfie shooter. Software is OriginOS 6 on Android 16, with Vivo promising three years of OS updates and five years of security patches.

Battery is 7,000mAh, smaller than the Redmi and Poco but still large for its class. Charging tops out at 44W wired.

How the four stack up

The Poco and Redmi are near-twins, so the buying decision hinges on price. Vivo trades raw battery size for better water resistance and longer software support. Pixel 11 sits in a different tier entirely, with pricing still unknown but confirmed to be higher than its predecessor.

September will add the iPhone 18 Pro lineup, followed by a wave of Chinese flagships. August is the warmup.
